The port area was recently expanded with the inauguration of the new Cruise Terminal in May 2025, where Viking also provides full agency services for its cruise line partners. Together, these facilities form a network of three key ports in São Vicente — Porto Grande, the Cruise Terminal, and the Ferry Terminal (Maritime Gare of São Vicente) — where our President, Valdemiro Ferreira, through a full range of services offered, has significantly contributed to the exponential growth and development of the ports across the Cape Verde Islands.
Valdemiro Ferreira, founder and President of the Administrative Council (PCA) of Shipping Agency Viking Cape Verde since 1994, was the pioneer in 2019 to become the first Cape Verdean to acquire a 100% nationally owned ferry — the Nosferry Mar de Canal, operated by Naviera Armas Cabo Verde.
The vessel operates on the inter-island route between Mindelo, at the Port of Mindelo (Porto Grande) — where Shipping Agency Viking Cape Verde acts as the shipping company — and Porto Novo in Santo Antão, connecting the islands through the main and best-equipped port of Cape Verde.
